King’s College (Wilkes-Barre PA) Mass Communications department announced a partnership with WVIA to begin in Spring 2009. The Parente-King’s Media Fund for Excellence will give King’s College Communication and design students the opportunity to work and train at WVIA while still in school.

Kings Partners with WVIA

Top communications students (2 per semester) will have the privilege of working with experienced media executives in a hands-on environment. Mentoring opportunities will also be available.

Film students will have the opportunity to participate in the “filmmaker-in-residence” program, and radio students will be able to apply for a 2 semester radio host internship.

WVIA is also giving King’s design, communication, and media students access to a high definition studio. The studio will be used for workshops and to aid in a semester-long campaign to help promote WVIA. Workshops in the studio will teach the students about television and radio programming.

This is a great opportunity in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area for any student interested in design, film and communications. For more information on the programs and the Mass Communications department at King’s College, visit their website at www.kings.edu
